Craftsmen's Fair -- The First Annual Fair of the Greenwich Village Craftsmen was opened here with over seventy village artisans handling the fifty booths. Over 10,000 persons visited the fair on opening day and watched coppersmiths, silversmiths, lamp makers, engravers potters and woodworkers give exhibitions of their work. The fair, to enable professional Village artisans to present their work to the public, will run for three consecutive week-ends on a lot at the Avenue of The Americas between Washington and Waverly Places. Part of the proceeds will go to the Greenwich House Camp Fund. Here Richard Budd attracts the curious as he fashions a leather belt in his booth. May 26, 1947. (Photo by Wide World Photos).
