Costume of an Incroyable. Second costume of Lagorille, dressed for a gala. Tall claque hat (bicorn), perruque (wig) suit of striped silk, cravat, gilet (waistcoat) with flowers, garters. He carries a cudgel. Handcoloured etching by Auguste Etienne Guillaumot Jr. from "Costumes of the Directory," Rouquette, Paris, 1875. The etchings were made from designs by Eugene Lacoste and Draner after prints of the era 1795-99. The costumes are from theatre productions "Merveilleuses" and "Pres Saint-Gervais" by Victorien Sardou.
