Coronation Robes Exhibition: A close up of the head and shoulders of a new austerity robe being reflected in a mirror. It shows the new cap of state costing £-£4 worn as alternative to £60 coronet. An exhibition opened in London for the private viewing of some three hundred peers and peeresses who have applied for summons to the Coronation. It was held in Mr. Norman Hartnell's salon in Bruton street. Invitations were sent out by the Earl Marshal for peers and peeresses to attend the special showing of dresses robes and head-dresses which have been designed for the Coronation. January 5, 1953.
