Coronation Medallions For The Zoo. Some of the Coronation Medallions which will shortly be on sale at the Zoo. The two sides are seen in this picture - the "head" showing Her Majesty The Queen and the "tail" showing a Zoo elephant. The Mint has delivered about 2,000 gold-coloured medallions to the Zoo, which will shortly be on sale in the Zoo's shop as Coronation souvenirs. These medallions are about the size of a half-crown and bear a picture of the Queen's head on one side; on the reverse side is a Zoo elephant with the date 1953 inscribed on it's saddle.
