Smith, Clerk to the Master Mariners' Company and Captain James Quayle, commander of the 'Media', with the wheel which was handed over on the bridge of the liner on arrival at Liverpool to-day (Saturday). Unusual place of shipment which arrived at Liverpool to-day (Saturday) on the ***** White Star liner 'Media' was an old steering wheel. It was the wheel used by Seaman-auther Joseph Conrad on his first command, the 'Otago', and it has been brought over here by Mr. Christopher Morley, the novelist, to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of Conrad's death. August 27, 1949.
