The new bridge is a British Mabey Johnson bridge assembled by a Battalion of German Engineers belonging and supporting the Implementation Force (IFOR) in Bosnia as part of Operation JOINT ENDEAVOR. Lieutenant General Michael Walker, Commander of the Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Corps with the assistance of the local Bosnian mayor of Gorazde and the German Engineer Battalion Commander, sign an official ledger to commemorate the official opening ceremony. Beginning in December, 1995, US and allied nations deployed peacekeeping forces to Bosnia in support of JOINT ENDEAVOR.
