Date: 1764.This commode was supplied to the sixth Earl of Coventry for a bedroom at Croome Court, Worcestershire, in 1764. The bill, dated July 20, 1764, gives the price of the commode as fifty-five pounds and specifies that iut was intended for storing clothing. Trained in Paris, Langlois was a leading cabinetmaker in London in the 1750s and 1760s. He specialized in commodes in the French manner, decorated with floral marquetry and gilt-bronze mounts.
