Commands U.S. Forces in Papua - Lieut. Gen. Robert L. Eichelberger, former Superintendent of the United States military Academy at West Point and now commander of U.S. forces in Papua, has been awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for successful direction of forces driving the Japanese out of New Guinea. Fifty-seven years old, General Eichelberger was graduated from West Point in 1909.
