Colonial Secretary Telis House ***** -- Picture received today showing an Arab lorry driver, suspected of carrying arms, being searched by a British Soldier, outside one of the military outposts on the Jericho road.Yesterday afternoon Mr. Malcolm MacDonald, the Colonial Secretary told the house of Commons that the position in Palestine had "seriously deteriorated" and that in view of this more troops were being rushed out from England and India. Owing to the many attacks on convoys of lorries and the shooting of their Jewish drivers, British troops have established military outposts on various parts of the long roads which run from the Mediterranean coast to the Dead Sea. All those wishing to pass are searched as are their lorries before they are allowed to proceed. June 10, 1938. (Photo by Keystone).
