Christmas Ends Rivalries Of War - Robert Dunstan and Costantino Pante in Pordenone. Robert Dunstan, a journalist from Melbourne, Australia, lost his leg as a result of wounds from an Italian shell fired at Tobruk on January 15, 1941. Dunstan determined to find the Artillerymen who fired the shell that wounded him. After a long search through Italian army records he discovered the man was Costantino Pante, of Pordenone. Pordenone has entertained Dunstan this Christmas and friendship has grown out of the rivalries of war. January 1, 1953. (Photo by Paul Popper).
