Chippendale's Workshop Mystery Of St. Martin's Lane, London -- The greatest of British cabinetmakers, Thomas Chippendale, had his workshop in St. Martin's Lane from 1753 till his death in 1779. There is considerable doubt as to which house Chippendale lived in, but many people believe that No. 67 in Garrick Yard, now the studios of a firm of stage designers, is the workshop used by him.
