Ceremonial Crown and Breast-plate. Made in Nepal, about 1850-90 Emeralds, rubies, lapis and diamonds on hammered silver. The paisley-shaped pendants on the top of this crown carry Buddhist deities; in the centre is Amitayus, the Buddha of infinite life. On each side and below in stone, is the Goddess Tara. In the breast-plate is Garuda, a popular protector in Nepal. The small size of this gem-studded crown shows it was made for a child.
