R.A.F. Carries Supplies to Greenland Expedition -- Brought up from Young Sound, some 190 miles away, thousands of boxes and oil drums litter the ground at Britannia Lake, the main camp of the British North Greenland Expedition. The essential stores were brought up by Sunderland flying-boats of the Royal Air Forces Coastal Command and by Hastings aircraft of Transport Command. This was the third year in succession that the Royal Air Force undertook to assist the Expedition. The operations, apart from making a contribution to the success of the Expedition, proved of considerable training value to the Royal Air Force crews. August 1, 1953.
