Canadian Women Present Anti-Tank Gun To 8th. Army -- Sgt. J. Stewart of the Queen Royal Regiment being presented with the M. M. for conspicuous gallantry displayed during the fighting around Tunis. This ceremony took place at the same time as the presentation of the Anti-Tank Gun. The women workers at an ordnance factory in Quebec, Canada, thrilled by the exploits of the British Eighth Army, presented one of the famous 6 pdr. anti-tank guns to their heroes. The Military Authorities decided that the gun, with suitably inscribed nameplates, should be given to the Regiment showing the best day's shoot between Alamein and Tunis. The coveted award has been won by a Troop of the Queen Royal Regiment. When Rommel made an unsuccessful attempt to break out from the Mareth line last March he lost some 50 tanks: Of these the Queens claimed 27 and this Troop "bagged" 8. August 28, 1943.
