Bust of Isis by Joseph Cott (1786-1860). The head is a copy of one in the Sala dei Busti of the Museo Pio-Clementino in the Vatican. The Vatican bust has been acquired from Cardinal Albani's collection and published as representing the Egyptian goddess Isis, on account of the lotus-shaped central curls, it is now regarded simply as an ideal female. The English sculptor Joseph Gott worked in Rome from 1822.
