British personalities: The Rt. Hon. Anthony Eden, M.P. -- A new picture of the Rt. Hon. Robert Anthony Eden, M.C., M.P., one of the leaders of the British conservative party. Mr. Eden, was born in 1987 and educated at Eton and Christchurch, Oxford, where he took a B.A. with first class Honours in Oriental Languages. During World War 1 he served with the Kings Royal Rifle Corps. Mr. Eden has been a member of parliament for Warwicck and Leamington since 1923 and was parliamentary Private secretary to the secretary of state for Foreign affairs (1926-29) parliamentary under secretary, Foreign office, (1931-33), Lord Privyseal (1934-35) Minister with Portfolio for League of nations affairs (1935), secretary of state for Foreign 1935-38), secretary of state for War (1940), secretary of state for Foreign affairs (1940-45) and leader of the house of commons (1942-45).
