Sir Thomas Lucy, who inherited in 1551 and built the present Charlecote, lists his servants. Besides a Falconer and a Keeper of the Horse, they include a Brewer, an Under-Brewer and a Malt maker. Queen Elizabeth visited Charlecote in 1572 so it is reasonable to suppose that she tasted the beer.
