Battle Of Britain Service At The Abbey - Section Officer Claire Legge leading the contingent of WAAFs during the march to Westminster Abbey this afternoon (Sunday). After parading at Wellington Barracks this afternoon, units of the RAF, WAAF, AA Command, Nursing Service, Royal Observer Corps, and of the RAF Association, marched to Westminster Abbey for a service of thanksgiving for victory in the Battle of Britain. More than 800 officers and men attended, and the King was represented at the service by Air Marshal Sir Roderic Hill. September 21, 1947.
