Barotse Women -- Leader of the Barotse women's fashions is the Chief's premier wife, called the 'Moyo' which means the Soul of the Nation. This photograph shows the 'Moyo' in a dress which gained world-wide popularity in the later part of the nineteenth century. It is the custom for the Chief to have wives from neighbouring tribes.
