Atomic Cannon Moved In Test Operation -- A U.S. Army 280-mm atomic cannon is cradled in a British-type LCU (Landing Craft Utility) as it is ferried across the Rhine River at Germershein in Germany last Tuesday in a test operation. Six of the Army's 30 atomic cannons were ferried across the river in a maneuver carried out by the U.S. Navy's Rhine River Patrol to show the weapons can be ferried by river craft in the event bridges are blown up.
