The arrest of would-be assassin Nedelijo Cabrinovic, a member of the anarchist group the 'Black Hand', who threw the bomb at Archduke Franz Ferdinand's carriage on 28th June 1914 in Sarajevo. He missed, but his associate Gavrilo Princip fired two shots from his Browning pistol and killed the Duke and his wife travelling in the carriage with him). These shocking events were the catalyst which in turn led to the start of World War One. Date: 1914
