Anthony Webster as Corporal William in "The Camp.". Anthony Webster debuted at Covent Garden in 1776, but despite his "elegant person, full and harmonious voice," he was rather awkward and unanimated, and his stay in London was short. He ended his career at Drury Lane in 1780. Written by Sheridan, performed at Drury Lane in 1778, the musical "The Camp" was memorable more for its scenery than its dialogue.. Unsigned copperplate engraving from "The Vocal Magazine" published by J. Bew 1778.
