Ancient Norse Scenes To Be Enacted At Lerwick - The Norse Galley and its crew at Lerwick. The picturesque and spectacular "Up Helly Aa" Festival is shortly taking place at Lerwick, Shetland Islands, and this yearls "Guizer Jarl" is Mr. Robert Gray. The biggest feature of the festival is a procession by torchlight of about 350 people, with a replica of an old Norse Galley at the head. On the poop of the galley stands the Guizer Jarl. The culminating point of festival is the burning of the Norse Galley by the torch bearers. January 13, 1937. (Photo by Topical Press).
