The plant itself, its Egyptian name wadj (which means "green" or "fresh"), and the choice of green-blue faience or green stones all strongly evoke life, vitality, and regenerative power, qualities desirable for the living and the dead. Plaques with a papyrus scepter in relief are variants of papyrus amulets (see 10.130.1818) and typical of the Late and Ptolemaic Periods..
