Amos Judd is a novel written in 1895 by J.A. Mitchell (1845-1918). It takes place against a background of civil war in northern India. The seven-year-old rajah is smuggled out by three faithful followers - two Hindus and one American. The boy was brought to a Connecticut farmhouse and given the name Amos Judd. As he grew up, he had the amazing ability to foresee events. The caption accompanying this illustration in the novel: It seemed a long five minutes. The scene shows Mr. Cabot in the chair, smoking a cigar. Molly is with him. Amos Judd is thinking as he rests his arm on the mantle. He had asked for five minutes to think about what he was going to do.
