"The American-Japanese Apple Incident"This photo was snapped in September, 1931, showing the American aviators Clyde Panghorn and Hugh Herndon with their world-circuling plane "Miss Veedol" at Sabishiro beach, Aomori Prefecture, where they landed on their long hop and took off on the last lap of their flight across the Pacific. When the apple-growers of Aomori found out that Mr. Panghorn was a native of Wenatches Valley, Washington State, famous for its "Richared Delicious" apples, they presented him with a few of their product as souvenir.
