Allied Lend-Lease Goods Distributed In North Africa -- A group of Arab residents of Zeralda, Algeria, display clothing materials they purchased at the village market where lend-lease foods, sent to North Africa from the U.S., are sold at cost to civilians. The North African Economic Board, a British American agency which collaborates with French civil authorities in developing and executing plans to restore the North African Economy, makes clothing, food and other necessities available to the population. Eligibility of families to receive these supplies is established by local French governmental officials. By the end of June, 1943, approximately 100,000 persons, ***** of them Arabs, had been provided with these essentials. November 06, 1943. (Photo by U.S. Office Of War Information Picture).
