Allied Lend-Lease Goods Distributed In North Africa -- Arab residents of Zeralda, Algeria, crowd the village market where materials for clothing, furnished by the Allies, are sold under the supervision of local French officials. The merchandise, which was sent to North Africa from the U.S. under Lend-Lease, is made available to the population through the North African Economic Board as part of the Allied program of rehabilitation for liberated areas. Up to May 31, the United States has shipped to North Africa more than 170,000 tons of clothing, food and other essentials, valued at approximately $40,000,000. November 06, 1943.
