U.S. Air Fleets Span 6 Continents and 7 Oceans to Deliver War Supplies - The United States, delivering millions of tons of war equipment to fronts thousands of miles away, is making in- creasingly greater use of fleets of cargo planes. In five months 5,000,000 plane-miles were covered in flying equipment and personnel to the Australian front. By flying materials from India to China, the loss of the Burma Road has been off-set. Planes and supplies are flown to the Middle East for Russia and for the war against the Axis in Africa. To step up air cargo service even more, the U. S. is building lots of DC-3s and hundreds of 25-ton Curtiss twin-engined Coamandos. The "go-ahead" signal for constructing 100 ton cargo planes has been given.
