After extensive tests lasting more than six months V.H.F. radio has been adopted at Shell's Stanlow oil refinery, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, for use in the fleet of passenger vehicles based on this plant. So far ten vehicles have been fitted with the equipment which has an effective rangle of 25 miles. Cars as far out as Liverpool, Birkenhead, and the outskirts of Manchester, are within contact distance and can be called to carry out special or routine duties as requirements arise.
