An aerial view of the path of destruction left by the rain-soaked coal tip that slipped 500 yards down the mountainside into the mining village of Aberfan, Glamorganshire. The Pantglas infants and junior school, a farmhouse and a terrace of houses were engulfed in the slurry, which claimed 144 lives, including 116 children. Date: October 21st 1966
