Abingdon claims to be the oldest town in England. This is its famous medieval stone bridge. It was begun in 1416 and completed in 1422, using local limestone. Here we see beneath the main arch of the bridge at sunrise on a fine, spring morning; it faces roughly E/W, so first light catches the stonework under its main arch, producing this wondrous glow and reflections in the water.
