Norman effigy from Danbury church. "This monument is found in the church at Danbury, in the county of Essex. It is probably older than plate 62, but is of wood not stone. It is astonishing, seeing the little care taken in its conservation, that it is in such good condition. Strutt remarks that the perfection of the work is an enigma to him when compared to others of the same epoque, or in contemporary pictures or designs, which lack both accuracy and taste." .
