This C3 coronagraph of the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) shows jet of particles of around 10 coronal mass ejections which took place on the part of the Sun facing away from Earth. The white circle represents the size and position of the Sun, while the blue disk blocks the light, showing the fainter structure of the corona. The coronal mass ejections launch billions of tons of matter at millions of miles per hour.
