The controversial sculpture Alison Lapper Pregnant by Mark Quinn in Trafalgar Square, London. The fourth plinth, on the northwest corner of the square, was intended to hold a statue of William IV, but remained empty due to insufficient funds. Quinns Alison Lapper Pregnant is a 3.6m marble torso bust of Alison Lapper, an artist who was born with no arms and shortened legs due to a condition called phocomelia.
