The Victoria Nile flows out of Lake Victoria into Lake Albert, and from there into the mighty White Nile. After a series of rapids twenty miles east of Lake Albert, its colossal volume of water squeezes through a cleft in the rocks little more than twenty feet wide before dropping 400 feet in a series of three great cascades called the Murchison Falls.
