A cluster of houses in an old Konso village in southwest Ethiopia. The oldest villages date back 500 to 600 years and are fortified with huge dry stone walls. All the thatched roofs are topped with earthenware pots to keep out rain. The leaves of the pale green trees around the houses are edible and used as a boiled vegetable.
