Pedestrians take advantage of a the new traffic patterns in Times Square in New York on Wednesday, May 27, 2009. Cars have been banned on a six block area in the square to facilitate a smoother and quicker flow creating large pedestrian mall areas. The Times Square Alliance has planned activities and supplied beach chairs for sitting and relaxing. A similar program is also in effect in Herald Square where Broadway also intersects major streets.
