Widow and the surviving children of Frazer Baker. Baker, was appointed postmaster of the Lake City, North Carolina, a largely African American town. On Feb. 22, 1898, a large White mob, set fire to his house, murdered Baker, and killed two of his six children. His wife and four surviving children received bullet wounds.
