Chandler Owen (1889-1967), was an African-American writer and activist. He spoke out during the Red Scare of 1919, and rejected Booker T. Washington's vision of slow progress. He wrote speeches for many prominent politicians including Wendell Willkie, Thomas Dewey, Dwight Eisenhower, and Lyndon Johnson.
