Oman is a little of what Westerners might expect; dry, hot and some areas quite remote. While the Al Hajar Mountains receive little rain, there are palm trees and grasses in the valleys between the hills where enough water flows to grow a small crop for subsistence farming. Unlike the land, the people I met in Oman were warm and inviting and I look forward to one day returning to experience more of the country.
