Thousands of sun and surf lovers celebrate the Memorial Day at Coney Island in Brooklyn in New York. Although the weekend started out rainy and gloomy on the last day the sun came out to a glorious end to the unofficial start of summer. Many of the businesses on Coney Island were severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy but after extensive cleaning and rebuilding many reopened and many new businesses have also opened.
