PYLORIC STENOSIS, X-RAY. PYLORIC STENOSIS, X-RAY Stricture of the lower part of the stomach, the pylorus, is called pyloric stenosis. This condition can be inherited or acquired, for example when caused by an ulcer or a tumor. Pyloric stenosis causes severe digestive disorders (pain, vomiting). An x-ray study with a contrast agent is used to confirm the diagnosis and visualize the hypertrophy of the sphincter. Hypertrophy of the muscular sphincter requires surgical treatment. In case of steno

SCREENING HELICOBACTER PYLORI. Heli_kit is a respiratory test that enables to screen the presence of the bacterium Helicobacter pylori in the patient. Helicobacter pylori infects the gastric mucosa and can cause peptic ulcers, gastrides and cancers of the stomach. The principle of the test relies on the fact that Helicobacter pylori has the property to transform the uree into ammoniac and carbon dioxide. The kit Heli_kit contains a flask of marked urea C13*, a small bag of citric acid, 4 tubes f

SMALL INTESTINE, X-RAY. SMALL INTESTINE, X-RAY The small intesine is a segment of the digestive tract measuring about 7 meters long from the gastric pylorus to the large intestine. The small intestine is divided into three structural parts, the duodenum, the jejunum and the ileum, which form 15 intestinal loops. These loops float freely in the abdominal cavity. The inner surface of the small intestine is covered with villi where food is absorbed. Here is a normal x-ray of the small intestine

SMALL INTESTINE, DRAWING. SMALL INTESTINE, DRAWING In man, the small bowel, which begins with the duodenum at the pyloric opening of the stomach and terminates into the large bowel, is approxima-tely 7 meters long. The longest part of the small intestine is freely folded within the abdominal cavity and only attached to the posterior abdominal wall by a membranous extension of the peritoneum called the mesentery.

SMALL INTESTINE, DRAWING. SMALL INTESTINE, DRAWING The small intestine is the segment of the digestive tract extending from the pylorus of the stomach to the cecal junction with the large intestine. On the average, the small intestine measures about 7 meters in length. The first part, the duodenum measures 25 cm and is solidly attached to the surrounding organs. The second part, the ileojejunum, is a loosely attached mobile tube forming 15 or 16 intestinal loops.

The small intestine has two parts, the duodenum and the jejunoileum which form 15 intestinal loops. These loops float freely in the abdominal cavity. The inner surface of the small intestine is covered with villosities where food is absorbed. Here is a normal x-ray of the small intestine made visible by ingestion o

DUODENAL X-RAY. DUODENAL X-RAY The duodenum is the initial segment of the small intestine, extending from the pylorus to the jejunum. Measuring approximately 25 centimeters, it is composed of 4 parts. The first part is called the duodenal bulb. The second part receives secretions from the gall bladder and pancreas. The third and fiurth parts are horizontal and ascending. The duodenum plays an essential role in digestion since it absorbs calcium, vitamins, iron, and lipids.
