Clarissa Munger (1806-1889) was born into an artistic family in East Guilford, Connecticut. Her father George was an engraver and miniaturist, and her sister Caroline painted portraits. Clarissa married the Rev. Milton Badger in 1828, and in 1848 published "Forget Me Not" with original watercolors,

Painting of a still life showing meat, wine, bread and a knife from the ala at house 16, Regio IX, Insula V. Illustration drawn by Discanno and lithographed by Victor Steeger from Emil Presuhn's "Pompeji. Die Neuesten Ausgrabungen von 1874-1881," Weigel, Leipzig, 1882. German archeologist Presuhn (1844-1881) lived in Italy for eight years and, with Mr. Discanno and Miss Amy Butts, made exact copies of many wall paintings that are now lost.
